Zee Salaam gets yet another award!

Jun 07, 2012
Zee Salaam was felicitated with Maulana Qazi Sajjad Hussain Award 2012 for its services towards the Muslim community for promoting the concept of Hamd-o-Naat in India. The award was given by Hamd-o-Naat Academy, New Delhi, one of the most renowned schools for learning Hamds and Naats in India. The ceremony was held at historic Ghalib Academy, Delhi and was presided over by Mr. Akhtar ul Wasey, Vice Chairman, Urdu Academy and HOD, Islamic studies, Jamia Milia Islamia University, New Delhi. The function was attended by many respected personalities from the community across the nation.

A Hamd is a religious couplet sung in praise of Allah and a Naat is a religious couplet sung in praise of Prophet Mohd (s), without music. Only one instrument that can be used is Duff. After the recital of the holy Quran, these religious couplets are the most nearest to the hearts of the Muslims across the world.

Zee Salaam, for the first time in India, launched a reality show based competition, Talaash Ek Roohani Awaz Ki, for singing Hamds and Naats.  The channel has recently completed its auditions for the third season of the said reality show.

Also, Zee Salaam rejuvenated the way these Hamds and Naats are being recited in the country. Coming out of the typical traditional way of reciting these couplets, the channel added a new style blended with beautiful locations and divine musical talent. The channel introduced Pakistan's National singer Waris Baig who was here in India on special invitation. The couplets were shot amongst the back drop of important Islamic monuments in the country. These couplets in the new format not only added creative value to the channel but also are topping the charts week after week.

Congrats to Zee Salaam team!!!
